Shaena Ricks, MBA, is a certified teacher in the state of Texas and a National STEM educator. Shaena has taught Math and Science for grades 6-8. She has served as an Instructional Coach in Klein ISD, as well as a national STEM curriculum consultant and writer for STEMscopes and Accelerate Learning, Inc. Shaena received her undergraduate degree in Sports Medicine from Tulane University, in New Orleans, La, and her MBA from University of Phoenix. Shaena is a STEM trainer, focusing on instructional strategies, PBL, integrating STEM instruction into the classroom, and RTI.
In 2014, Shaena was selected as 1 of 4 National Educator Argonauts to participate in an intensive hands-on research experience with resident and visiting scientists focused on marine biodiversity and marine ecology projects at the Cape Eleuthera Institute in Eleuthera, Bahamas. She has also served as the Session Chairperson for the largest educational conference in the country, Conference for the Advancement of Science Teachers (CAST) in 2013, in Texas. Shaena is a part of the STEMcoach initiative with STEMscopes where she models and discusses STEM instructional strategies that promote 21st century learning skills for students and teachers through filmed lessons via online resources. She has also served as a panelist and mentor for the Thurgood Marshall College Fund 2015 Teacher Quality and Retention Program. In May 2015, Shaena joined the Accelerate Learning, Inc. and STEMscopes team as the Manager of RFP’s and Grants.
When she is not working with educators, Shaena can be found cheering for her two sons, 13 and 8, at speech competitions, spelling bees, jazz concerts, tennis games, swim practices, theatre productions, or basketball, soccer, football, and baseball games. Shaena is a native of Louisiana and loves to travel and explore different cultures.
