It can be challenging to maintain a healthy routine during the holidays. Stick to your goals with these four healthy habits!
- Keep moving. Simply walking or participating in activities like ice skating, building a snowman, or even shopping can burn calories and make you feel better. Look for creative ways to stay active.
- Avoid colds. Wash your hands frequently or use hand sanitizer if you don’t have access to soap and water. Try to not touch your eyes, nose, or mouth, especially if you’re traveling. Coming down with a cold or the flu is a sure way to halt your routine, and no one wants to be sick during the holidays.
- Reduce stress. Prioritize your to-do list and nix things that aren’t absolutely necessary. If you can delegate or make something easier, like asking a family member to bring dessert or picking up a ready-made side dish, don’t be afraid to do.
- Limit calories. You can still enjoy your favorite holiday foods, but try not to overindulge. Eat a healthy breakfast or snack before attending a holiday meal so you can resist temptation when you arrive and offer to bring at least one healthy dish.
